Answering Calls To answer an incoming call: Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to voicemail.) Press on your phone’s settings, you may also answer incoming calls by opening the phone or by pressing any number key.
Ending a Call To disconnect a call when you are finished: Close the phone or press Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not answered, the Missed Call notification is displayed on your screen. To display a Missed Call from the notification screen: Press List and highlight the entry.
Calling Emergency Numbers You can place calls to 911 (dial ), even if your phone is locked or your account is restricted. In-Call Options Pressing Options during a call displays a list of features you may use during the course of a call. To use an option, highlight the option and press Select.
End-of-Call Options After receiving a call from or making a call to a phone number that is not in your contacts list, the phone number and the duration of the call are displayed if Call Summary is set to on. (See “Call Summary” on page 53.) The right softkey displays the Save option.
Finding a Phone Number You can search contact entries for phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers. Using Speed Dialing You can store up to eight numbers in your phone’s speed dialing memory to make contacting friends and family as easy as pressing a button. With this feature and speed dialing on, you can dial entries using one key press for locations 2-9, or with speed dialing off, you can dial entries using two key presses (2-9 and reserved for your voicemail box.
Entering Text Selecting a Character Input Mode Your Sprint PCS Phone provides convenient ways to enter words, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter text (for example, when adding a contact entry or when using Sprint PCS Mail and SMS Text Messaging).
Entering Characters Using T9 Text Input T9 Text Input lets you enter text in your Sprint PCS Phone by pressing keys just once per letter. (To activate the Dictionary mode when entering text, see “Selecting a Character Input Mode” on page 34.) Set a Timed Profile Timed profiles can be used to prevent missed calls. For example, suppose you attend an event that requires your device be set to Silent before the event starts, but you forget to return it to Normal until long after the event. A timed profile can prevent missed calls by returning your device to the default profile at a time you specify.
Sound Settings Ringer Types Ringer types help you identify incoming calls and messages. You can assign ringer types to individual contact entries, types of calls, and types of messages. Preprogrammed Ringers—include a variety of standard ringer types and familiar music. Vibrating Ringer—alerts you to calls or messages without disturbing others.

Callers can still leave messages, but you will need to periodically check your voicemail for new messages if you are in a roaming service area for an extended period of time.

Managing Call Log In This Section Viewing the Call Log Deleting Call Logs Saving a Phone Number From the Call Log The Call Log keeps track of incoming calls, calls made from your Sprint PCS Phone, and missed calls. This section guides you through accessing and making the most of your Call Log.
Viewing the Call Log You’ll find the Call log feature very helpful. It is a list of the last 30 phone numbers (or contact entries) for calls you placed, accepted, or missed. Call log makes redialing a number fast and easy. It is continually updated as new numbers are added to the beginning of the list and the oldest entries are removed from the bottom of the list.
View Missed Calls The missed calls feature does not function when your device is switched off. Missed calls are calls that were never answered. To view missed calls: If the message notification displays, select List. When the phone number appears in the display, select Options.
Deleting Call Logs You can delete any missed, dialed, or received calls from device memory. From standby mode, select Menu > Call log > Delete recent calls. Changing Contacts Entry Options To access the following contacts entry’s options, highlight a contact and select Details > Options. With a contact number selected, for example, select one of the following options: View—views the phone number of the contact. Add detail—adds a number, address, note, image, or tone to the contact.
Editing a Contacts Entry Scroll through the contacts list to highlight the contact you would like to edit, and select Details > select an entry to edit > Options. The list of options varies depending on whether you are editing a contact listed by phone number, contact name, e-mail address, web address, image, or other text information.
Assigning Speed Dialing Numbers Your phone can store up to 8 phone numbers in speed dialing locations. Using Your Phone’s Alarm Clock Your Sprint PCS Phone comes with a built-in alarm clock with multiple alarm capabilities. If the alarm time is reached while the device is switched off, the device switches itself on and starts sounding the alarm tone.
Set the Alarm Tone You can set which tone is played when the alarm sounds. From standby mode, select Menu > Organizer > Alarm clock > Alarm tone. Select Standard, Radio, or Open downloads to choose the tone you want to use. If you set your alarm to Radio, use an accessory that supports FM Stereo.
Using Your Phone’s Calendar The calendar keeps track of reminders, calls you need to make, meetings, and birthdays. It can even sound an alarm for any of these events. Monthly view provides an overview of the selected month and weeks. It also allows you to jump to a specific date. Any days or dates that appear in bold font contain calendar notes such as a meeting or reminder.
Adding Notes to the Calendar You can apply five types of notes to your calendar. Your device asks for further information depending on which note you choose. You also have the option to set an alarm for any note that you select. Go to the date for which you want to set a reminder.
Options While Viewing a List of Notes The options listed below are available while viewing the header of a note. Select Options while viewing a day’s note to display the following: Make a note—creates a new note for the selected date. Delete—deletes the note.
Send a Note From standby mode, select Menu > Organizer > Calendar. Scroll to the date containing the note you wish to send, which appears in bold type, and select View. Scroll to the note you wish to send, and select Options >...
Using Your Phone’s Note Pad Your Sprint PCS Phone comes with a note pad you can use to compose and store reminders and notes to help keep you organized. You can write and save information in Notes, and send it via text message.
Using Your Phone’s To-do List Use the to-do list feature to keep track of your tasks. You can save a note for a task, select a priority level for the note and mark it as done when you have completed it. You can sort the notes by priority or by date.
Go to calendar—leaves the to-do list, and goes to the calendar. Save to calendar—saves the to-do note to a date on your calendar. Delete done notes—deletes all done notes in the list (available only if there are notes done). Delete all notes—deletes all the to-do notes in the list (available only in header view).
Using Your Phone’s Calculator The calculator in your Sprint PCS Phone adds, subtracts, multiplies, divides, calculates the square and the square root, changes the sign of the number entered, and converts currency values. Note: This calculator has a limited accuracy and is designed for simple calculations.
Currency Converter You can convert foreign currency to domestic, or vice versa, directly from standby mode or from the Calculator menu. Note: When you change base currency, you must enter the new rates because all previously set exchange rates are set to zero.
Using Your Phone’s Countdown Timer You can enter a specified time (up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds). When the time runs out, your device sounds an alarm. Press any key during the alarm to stop the alarm. After one minute the timer alert stops automatically.
