Follow these steps to download the media player and to modify the player's settings.
Launch your web browser and go to

Use the site's search engine to locate the Windows Media Player home page. Enter
and click Go.

Click 'Home Page for Windows Media Player.'
Click 'Download Page,' and use the drop-down menus to select the latest version (version 6.4 or

higher) and language. Click 'Download Now.'
Follow the on-screen instructions to download the latest Windows Media Player.

Once the new player is downloaded and installed on your system, launch the media player and

play an AVI file. Don't be alarmed if video distortion occurs.
Go to View, Options on the player's menu bar.

In the video section of the window, there is a hardware acceleration setting. Click the scroll tab to
reduce the setting from full to none.

Click OK. The video distortion is eliminated.
