Your Dell Personal Inkjet Printer J740 comes with software installed to detect the ink levels in the printer. During a print job, a screen appears on your computer to warn you if the ink levels are low. To order more ink, follow the instructions on the screen or visit the Dell Web site at www.dell.com/supplies.

You installed both of the ink cartridges. The Dell Personal Inkjet Printer J740 will only work if you have both cartridges installed. If you experience other problems not found in the User's Guide, refer to your Owner's Manual, or open the Dell Printer Solution Center.

Colors on the printout differ from the colors on the screen A cartridge may be low on ink. Check the ink levels in the Dell Printer Solution Center. Use a different paper brand. Each paper brand accepts ink differently and prints with color variations.
